Martech & bits: The iPhone 6 is here!

Finally, after a long wait from some of you, Apple has finally showed their new phone and you will be able to buy it this friday. But don’t rush to buy it yet, first let’s take a look at the most important changes of it. Okay? Okay.

First of all, we have to mention that they actually announced two phones: the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 plus. They are technically the same, except for the screen size and some other small differences, so i’ll try to focus on the specs of the iPhone 6 that are really worth mentioning.

First of all, as we all expected the new iPhone has a bigger screen compared to their old models (the new ones are 4.7 and 5.5 inches) which in my opinion is something great, especially because 4.7 inches is not big enough to be uncomfortable (The 5.5 inches is a different story tho). Also, with a bigger phone comes a bigger battery, so there is a plus.

The processor is a dual-core 1.4 GHz A8, which is way better than the A7 on the iPhone 5S. One thing worth mentioning is that compared to it’s rivals, it may look underpowered, especially because phones like the Galaxy S5 have a quad-core processor. But remember that this processor has a 64 architecture, check this out before comparing those two.

It now has a 8 MP camera with some improvements, and with the new A8 it allows users to record slow motion videos at 240 fps; It has a better front camera for your video calls, something that is really appreciated actually. I was quite impressed with what they could do with an 5MP camera on the iPhone 5S, so I wouldn’t be surprise that this will be even better.

The new iPhone 6 Plus has Optical stabilization Image. A major Upgrade for video recording and Photographs on a smartphone.

It has a screen display of 750p with their new Retina HD Display offering 326 ppi. Now I have seen some people complaining about this, saying that it has lower pixel density than some other phones, but the iPhone 5S got the same amount and it looked incredible, so I really want to see this new retina display on action.

One thing that I did like, is that they are not staying behind, bringing a 128 GB phone just like their competition, which is pretty cool actually. The actual problem is the price of it, and if it breaks you are screwed, since it’s not an microSD that you can simply replace.

Oh, and remember the rumours about the sapphire screens? It looks like Apple dropped the project since they couldn’t pass drop tests. Instead they are using a ion-strengthened glass, which is a bit of a shame, since it was a feature that I was really excited about.

And that’s about it for the most important changes. It doesn’t look like that much, but even with some smaller changes on their phones, Apple have always managed to offer a functional, competitive device, making better phones with each generation. But still, I really suggest you to wait a few months before buying, we all know that new devices always come out with some problems, so don’t be impatient and wait for the news and in depth reviews of it.
