“Martech & bits/ My opinion about” special: The Xperia Z3, yay…

So , this month was the announcement of the newest phone of Sony: The Xperia Z3. And it must be great, right? RIGHT!? But wait, the Z2 just came out a few months ago… oh boy, this is so wrong…

Ok, so a few days ago Sony thought it would be a great idea to announce their new phone, even if they just released one this year. This is kinda annoying specially for those who just bought it and always try to have the most advanced phone from Sony on their hands.

Sure, I totally can understand that and maybe, just maybe, I could agree with that business model a bit. I mean, technology is moving fast, and on this competitive world if you want to be ahead, you must release better stuff faster than your rivals. Some people might don’t like it, but that is how it is, and is understandable.

We see this all the time: consoles, computers, phones, TV’s, tablets, even shoes and clothes. It’s nothing new, and by now, we should be used to it. Now what bothers me about the Z3 is not that they announced it so soon after the release of the Z2, is about how offensive this is, treating their clients like idiots.

Don’t get me wrong, is not like it is a bad phone, but is not that better than the Z2. There is barely any difference to justify buying it if you have the Z2 or a similar phone. And that is what upsets me: does Sony really expects that its clients buy a new product just because they added a few sparkles on it? That is just ridiculous

Let’s take a look at this “new” phone, shall we? I will only mention the “significant” difference between both devices:

· The Z3 measures 146 x 72 x 7.3 mm, while the Z2 is 146.8 x 73.3 x 8.2 mm

· Z3 is equipped with a 2.5 GHz quad-core and the Z2 is equipped with a 2.3 GHz quad-core

· Xperia Z3 comes with a Li-Ion 3100 mAh battery and the Z2 with a Li-Ion 3200 mAh battery. Still they claim it will last longer (can’t confirm this yet tho)

And there you got it, that’s all. Is just a smaller phone with some tweaks. And I know some of you are thinking “Hey, how about the remote play?” Really? Think about it for a sec: if you have a phone with similar specs, are you going to buy a new one just to be able to stream videogames on it? Buying a PS Vita is way cheaper and has a bigger screen for it. No, even more important, it’s a device designed to play videogames!

Is just unbelievable how they are trying to deceive people with this “new phone”. Couldn’t they wait at least until the next year to develop something better instead of this Xperia Z2.5?

If this is a new kind of business model, we are in serious problems as clients. The worst part is that I’m pretty sure that some people will let themselves go and they’ll buy it because is “new” and “better”, and that is the reason why companies will keep doing this, because we as consumers allow them to do it.

If you have something like let’s say an iPhone 4S or a Xperia S, and you were planning about buying a new phone, then it’s worth buying; but if you have a similar phone like a Samsung Galaxy S5, a Z2 or and iPhone 5S, then just don’t buy, it doesn’t worth it.
